Introduction

Wellington College International Tianjin is an all-through British international school established in 2011 on a 35,000 m2 campus in the Hongqiao District of Tianjin. The campus opened in August 2011, following construction that began in September 2009. The College serves pupils aged 2–18 and offers the British curriculum from Early Years through to IGCSE (Years 10–11) and the A Level programme in the International Curriculum Centre. Mandarin is taught as a core subject across the curriculum, with a dedicated Mandarin department, and the Early Years programme combines the British EYFS with Chinese curriculum elements in a bilingual setting. English is used as daily language of communication and instruction, with English as a language of instruction for most subjects and Mandarin taught throughout the school. The campus is a short 5-minute walk from Xibei Jiao subway station on Line 1, and Tianjin West Railway Station is one stop away. Access by car follows Beima Road to Beimen Wai Dajie and then Nanyunhe Nan Lu, with the college about 500m ahead on the left.

Billing Schedule and Payment Terms

- Tuition fees can be paid annually or by term. Term and annual payment deadlines for the 2025/26 academic year are:
- Term 1 (Michaelmas) or Annual Fee due no later than June 27, 2025.
- Term 2 (Lent) fee due no later than December 12, 2025.
- Term 3 (Summer) fee due no later than March 27, 2026.
- Mid‑year admissions are charged on a daily pro‑rata basis. Families are responsible for all fees regardless of who is paying (parent/guardian or employer). Bank charges are borne by the payer. The College reserves the right to suspend pupils whose tuition or boarding fees are not paid by the due date or before the first day of each term.
- Early payment incentives: Annual payments received and acknowledged by the bank by the stipulated dates qualify for an early payment discount (approximately 1.5% effective reduction shown in the published fee table). Sibling discount: families with three or more children enrolled in full day programmes receive a 5% discount for the third child and 10% for the fourth child, applied to the lower year levels first.

Other Costs and Optional Charges

- College lunches are provided by an external catering company and are charged separately between parents/guardians and the caterer. The cost of lunch is not included in the tuition fees. Catering contact details and arrangements are handled separately.
- College uniform is not included in tuition fees and is charged separately via the uniform store; uniforms may be purchased as full sets or individually. Refunds and Withdrawal

- Fee refunds are processed only after receipt of a completed Withdrawal Application Form and completion of the pupil checkout process. The Resource Fee is refundable after return of College property and deduction of any outstanding tuition, bus, catering or other fees and any costs for damage. Original receipts and the official tax receipt (fapiao) issued at payment must be returned before refunds are processed; failure to return the original fapiao may result in additional tax charges per government requirements. Annual payers who received early‑payment or annual payment discounts and subsequently leave during the school year will have the incentive amount discontinued and will be charged at normal fee rates. There is no refund of tuition for temporary leave.

Fee Payment Options

- Payment methods accepted: bank transfer (RMB or US$), cheque in RMB, and cash in RMB. For bank transfers, include the student's name and year group in the payment remark. If payment is made in US$, conversion to RMB will be based on the exchange rate applied by the College at the time of payment. Card payments are available at the College Finance Office but attract an additional charge; bank charges are borne by the payer. The College publishes bank account details for RMB and USD payments.

Curriculum

Wellington College International Tianjin delivers an International British Curriculum across Early Years, Primary (Junior School) and Secondary (Senior School), with Mandarin taught as a core language to support bilingual global citizenship. The Early Years Bilingual Centre covers Pre-Nursery to Year 1 and follows the British EYFS framework, implemented by a team of Western and Chinese teachers with assistants and activities in English and Mandarin. The Junior School curriculum is modeled on the English National Curriculum and enriched by the International Primary Curriculum, including English, Mandarin, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Arts and Physical Education alongside a broad co-curricular program. Step 1. Visit the College. Visiting the College is optional but highly recommended. You can arrange a campus visit to see the Tianjin site and ask initial questions about the curriculum, facilities, and daily life. A visit helps families assess fit before starting the application process.

Step 2. Complete and Submit an Online Application via Open Apply. Submit the online application, upload all available supporting documents, and pay the non-refundable RMB 2,000 application fee. If this is your first time using Open Apply, you must register an account; if you already have an account, sign in and proceed with the application. After submission, the Admissions team will confirm receipt of your materials. In addition to the application, there is a one-time RMB 18,000 Resource Fee payable on acceptance, which is refundable on withdrawal in accordance with policy. The tuition fees can be paid annually or by term and include detailed termly schedules; fees and payment terms are published alongside the application steps.

Step 3. Admissions' Assessment. After the application is received, you will get an email confirmation from the Admissions Office. The Admissions team will arrange the relevant testing and, if necessary, an interview. This step determines whether further consideration by the Admissions Committee is required.

Step 4. Admissions' Committee Review Application and Assessments. The Admissions Committee reviews the application materials and assessment results. Decisions are communicated by email, and the intention is to offer a place within about one week of the assessment taking place. A campus tour can be booked if you wish to visit again or see additional facilities.

Scholarships

1) Academic Scholarships (IGCSE and A Level): Locals and foreigners with outstanding academic achievement can apply for IGCSE and A Level scholarships. Awards span categories and include substantial tuition fee reductions.

2) Individual Scholarships: Art Scholarships, Sports Scholarships, and Music Scholarships recognise exceptional talent in arts, athletics, or music.

3) Master's Scholarship Award: This award recognises top-performing IGCSE or A Level pupils in the Scholars Programme at graduation. Award amounts shown include 50,000 RMB for eligible IGCSE Year 11 scholars and 50,000 RMB for eligible A Level Year 13 scholars.

4) Young Achievers Scholarship (Years 7–9): Up to 10% tuition fee reduction per category (Academic, Sports, Arts, or Music). Eligibility is for students in Years 7–9 with exceptional talent.

5) IGCSE Scholarship (Years 10–11): Up to 60% tuition fee reduction combining academic and co-curricular awards (Academic Award up to 30%; Co-curricular Award up to 10% per category). Eligibility: students entering Years 10–11 with exceptional talent.

6) A Level Scholarship (Years 12–13): Award amounts range from 10% to 100% tuition fee reduction. Eligibility: students demonstrating outstanding ability in academics, sports, arts, or music.

7) Elite Sports Scholarships: Elite Performance Scholarships are available to support high-performing athletes.
