Al Jazeera Academy is located in Doha, Qatar, in the Mesaimeer area. The mailing address is PO Box 22250, Doha, Qatar. It is part of the Ta'allum Group and operates within the Doha city area.
The school is organized into three levels: Infant School (early years), Junior School (primary), and Secondary School (secondary). These sections are clearly presented in the site navigation.
The school is co-educational for younger year groups; from Year 4 onward, boys and girls are taught in single-sex classes in separate wings within the same building. It operates as a day school.
The student body is multi-national, with a majority of pupils being local Qatari. The exact number of nationalities represented is not published in official materials; sources indicate that most students are native Qatari.
The Learning Support Department runs the Knowledge Centre to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Provisions include Individualized Support Plans, Specialist Support, referrals and assessments, inclusive resources, and Lexia Reading Core5, with ongoing collaboration with parents.
The school is located in Qatar and emphasizes Qatari identification; there is no formal affiliation to a foreign country.
Islamic values underpin the school's ethos; there is no formal religious denomination affiliation.
The school week runs Sunday to Thursday. Infant timetables show early arrivals around 6:45–7:00am with earliest finish around 1:00pm; Key Stage 1 finishes around 1:30pm; Junior and Senior School finish around 1:30pm, including breaks and a prayer period during the day.
There is no published information about a school-run bus service in the official materials; families typically arrange private transport or use public transport.
Al Jazeera Academy requires students to wear the school uniform. The Uniform Catalogue outlines the uniforms for Infant, Junior and Secondary sections and frames wearing the uniform as a core part of school identity and belonging.
The school operates a cafeteria offering healthy meals with balanced menus designed to meet students' dietary needs. The food policy emphasises nutritious school food and there is a periodic food tasting session to gather feedback on new menus from students, staff and parents.
Al Jazeera Academy uses a house system. In the Junior School, students in Years 4–6 can apply to be House Captains, and Year 6 includes Head Boy or Head Girl roles, indicating a structure that supports student leadership within houses.
The academy is part of the Ta'allum Group. The governance page presents a Chairman and outlines Ta'allum's leadership, reflecting that AJA is overseen by the Ta'allum Group which operates multiple academies.
Al Jazeera Academy uses a Ta'allum Group curriculum across Infant, Junior, and Secondary; the Secondary program is based on the National Curriculum for England and Wales, adapted to Qatar's MOE requirements and Ta'allum policies. In Secondary (Years 7–12), students progress through Key Stages 3–5, with Year 9 beginning IGCSE courses in core subjects, Year 10 selecting up to four additional IGCSE subjects, and Year 12 offering AS Level courses, with Ta'allum partner schools developing two-year A Levels. Arabic and Islamic Studies are compulsory, with Qatar History and Makarem also integrated as part of MOE directives. Infant and Junior curricula are UK-based, with Ta'allum Infant Schools following the UK National Curriculum for English (EYFS) and Year 1–2 combining English, Maths, Science, Design/Technology, Computing, Qatar History, Life Skills and PE with Arabic, Islamic Studies, Holy Quran and Makarem. Across all stages, literacy and numeracy are prioritized, technology is embedded (tablets and AI tools), and the curriculum integrates Tarbeya values, Islamic identity and Qatar's heritage.
Al Jazeera Academy supports Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) through a strong pastoral system and a dedicated counselling framework. The Student Behaviour Policy emphasizes student safety and wellbeing, with a zero-tolerance approach to bullying and a pastoral team delivering Counselling Programmes and holistic behaviour support via Tarbeya, with a 'support before serious sanction' philosophy. Makarem lessons and the Instilling Values programme integrate Islamic values into SEL across the curriculum and tutor time. The Health & Wellness emphasis on the Student Life page confirms access to high-quality health care and services that enhance student wellbeing inside and outside the classroom. These provisions collectively support students' social-emotional development and wellbeing.
Al Jazeera Academy provides learning support through a Learning Support Department and a Knowledge Centre for students identified as having SEN, with the aim of modifying the curriculum and equipping students with self-management skills to access learning. The SEN team uses a structured system of referrals, assessments and provisions, and includes a Designated Safeguarding Lead, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads, a School Nurse, School Counsellors, and a SENCO. Individualised Support Plans provide personalised strategies; Specialist Support is delivered by qualified professionals; collaboration with parents; Inclusive Resources; Skill Development; Tailored Support Programs address individual needs. Lexia Reading Core5 is available to pupils in the Knowledge Centre to support reading with explicit feedback and scaffolding. The implementation is described as integrated within mainstream Ta'allum education rather than a separate specialist SEN institution.
EAL-specific provisions are not publicly described in Al Jazeera Academy's publicly accessible materials. The Learning Support Department describes inclusive resources and Lexia Reading Core5 as part of its reading support, indicating literacy assistance for diverse learners but not detailing a dedicated EAL program. There is no explicit listing of EAL staff or programmes in the materials available from the Ta'allum Group. The school materials focus on SEN and inclusion rather than an EAL service. Therefore, EAL-specific provisions are not publicly disclosed.
Mental wellbeing is supported through Health & Wellness provisions that provide access to high-quality health care and services to enhance student wellbeing inside and outside the classroom. The Student Behaviour Policy reinforces mental wellbeing through a pastoral team and Counselling Programmes, including Tarbeya, offering individual or group support to students in need of intervention, with a 'support before sanctions' approach. Makarem lessons and the Instilling Values programme embed values across the curriculum and tutor time as part of pastoral care. The school also describes access to school-based counsellors and a senior nurse as part of safeguarding and wellbeing structures. Overall, the combined health, pastoral care, and values-based approaches underpin students' mental wellbeing.
Safeguarding is led by a Designated Safeguarding Lead (the Principal) with Deputy Safeguarding Leads, a School Senior Nurse, School Counsellors, and a Head of SEN serving on the safeguarding team. The Policy identifies the safeguarding role and responsibilities, including monitoring and reporting, and links to wider safeguarding guidance such as What to Do if You Are Worried a Child is Being Abused and Keeping Children Safe in Education. The policy confirms a designated safeguarding office and a robust safeguarding culture across Ta'allum Group schools. The policy documents the DSL and Child Safety Team and provides appendices detailing roles and procedures for safeguarding, student protection, and incident reporting. The policy states the next scheduled review and indicates safeguarding training and safer recruitment principles.
Admission is open for 2025-2026 for KG1 through Year 12 at Al Jazeera Academy. Online admission is via the Ta'allum Group portal, and applicants can register multiple children using a single login. The online registration system comprises three modules: New Application, Continue Application, and Add Student, and the application must be completed in English; payment is not required at the time of applying. Required documents include copies of the parent(s)' and student's Qatari ID (or resident/work visa for non-Qatari), birth certificate, passport, and, for KG1–KG2, the previous school report.
